Why Choose CTS for your DofE Residential section?

As a Duke of Edinburgh's Award  Approved Activity Provider (AAP), we have vast experience of organising and running high quality and affordable Residential section activities for young people.

All residentials run by CTS are designed to bring young people together, to have fun, make new friends, take away great memories, broaden interests and gain valuable experiences; whilst enabling participants to complete the requirements for the Gold Residential section, meeting the aim and benefits of the section and wider DofE programme.

Our residential activities are open to any participant aged 16 to 24, registered for the Gold DofE.

Having great knowledge and understanding of the Residential section, the wider DofE programme, and its delivery in a range of environments, we are able to organise exciting and beneficial shared activities for young people in an informal and supportive setting.

We are recognised by the DofE Head Office, DofE Regional Office’s, DofE Licenced Organisations, National Operating Authorities, Directly Licenced Centres, independent schools, local councils and organisations, for delivering the DofE to the highest standards.

We have an outstanding reputation for safety, ‘best practice’ and keeping within the values, ethos and spirit of the DofE.

Embracing an ‘open and accessible to all’ policy, we ensure that young people are at the heart of everything we do, allowing them to benefit greatly from their participation in the DofE programme.

We are recognised for positively supporting young people with additional needs.

"Before this course I was quite anxious about the whole idea of a residential and I didn’t know how to use a camera at all, however I can now say that I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and have come out of it a better photographer. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the schedule was very flexible and very much open to discussion allowing you to get out of the week what you wanted to. The process to apply for the residential was quick and easy to use and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an easy going fun experience."

Our residentials are a combination of learning photography skills in the outdoor environment, post-processing techniques to edit photos, as well as having the opportunity to undertake some conservation work in the area that the residential takes place, including National Parks, The National Trust, and other local conservation groups. Some of the centres we use are also charitable concerns and you may be undertaking some low risk maintenance work around these sites. We want to encourage young people, who have an interest in the natural world and the outdoors, to help them develop their skills and knowledge and perhaps consider it as part of their career choices.

As part of the requirements for a residential activity, the DofE state: 'Participants ‘must join a residential activity as an individual and not part of an existing group of friends.' Contact us if you have any questions regarding this or any other aspect of the residential activity.
