“Hi Dave. Thanks for all you did for us and all the other assessors on our Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I never knew Duke of Edinburgh could be so much fun.”

The maximum number of places available is 35, so booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment.
The success of these open expeditions is also attributed to many factors, however, ultimately the overall experience not only offers young people the opportunity to complete their expedition, but also gives them an all-round valuable residential experience that illustrates youth work at its best, which is reflected by the positive comments received from the participants, their DofE leaders and parents and the DofE’s Head Office. In addition, the numerous DofE Licenced Organisation’s, Directly Licenced Centre’s, local councils and organisations from across the UK, who regularly recommend and book participants on our expeditions.
“Dear Dave and all the other leaders. Hi it’s Kimberley and I just wanted to thank you for making last week such an enjoyable experience! I never thought I would have enjoyed it as much as i did, and much of it is down to the fun we had with you all, making me laugh when I really did not feel like laughing sometimes! Everything was so well organised, and the food you gave us at the centre was lovely! I will definitely recommend you to others who want to do the award! Thank you again!”

The expedition is offered predominantly as Gold level qualifying expedition, but can accommodate a limited number of participants requiring a full-scale practice expedition.
The week includes the opportunity for participants to plan all aspects of the expedition; a pre-expedition check; time to shop for perishable food items; undertake an acclimatisation walk; the qualifying or practice expedition and time to prepare and deliver a presentation with their Expedition Team.
Supervision and assessment is provided by qualified and experienced instructors.
Accommodation prior to and after the expedition is indoors, based at ´Dartmoor Activity Centre – Broadleas ´ Haytor, allowing participants to plan and prepare for their expedition in comfort, as well as offering a suitable venue to wind down, prepare and deliver a presentation with their Expedition Team.
We arrange free transportation from Newton Abbot Railway Station (if required) on the first day of the ‘open’ week to take participants to the base camp, as well as transportation back to the station after the expedition.
“I Just wanted to send a slightly belated thank you to yourself and all the team from last week on my Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Open Gold Expedition. I don’t know whether my mind is now blocking out the slightly low points(!) but from what I can remember now, I had a brilliant week. We are all so proud of ourselves but it couldn’t have been done without all your support, fab organisation and great food! I met some brilliant people who I’m sure I will keep in contact with and the week itself, I’ll always remember. Please pass on the thanks to all the ‘supervisors’ (: and once again thank you to yourself, who did make the week a very enjoyable experience. I will definitely be recommending you guys to anyone who asks!”
